The Finnish Ukulele Network (FUN) is proud to announce the Second Helsinki International Ukulele Festival, August 21st-23rd 2009.

Join us for a weekend of ukebration in a company of some of the finest present day ukulele-acts from around the globe: Ukulelezaza (B/NL), Shelley O'Brien (Ca), Elvira Bira (Swe), Rol Junell & his Hawaiian Novelty Orchestra (Fin), Uni & her Ukulele (US), Sepi (Fin), Pete Howlett (UK), Ukulele Igor (Fin), Bastardos Sympaticos (Fin) etc...

130 Years of Ukulele

It was August the 23rd back in 1879 when the Ukulele was brought to Hawaii. In the night of August 22-23 we'll have a grand celebration of the 130th birthday of the ukulele at a beautiful old Art Deco theatre Orion in the heart of Helsinki.

Get to the event two days earlier and join the uke-building workshop. In two days you'll build your own top-grade uke from the finest materials und the instruction of the legendary UK luthier Pete Howlett.

Luthier Tea Time

Meet the men who build our fine instruments. Discussions about building stringed instruments and a cup of tea in a company of Claus Mohri, Juha Lottonen and Pete Howlett. Event is open to luthiers, hobby-luthiers and players alike, or simply to anybody who is interested in stringed isntruments.

This is not a conventional uke-event taking place in one building, so you'll also get a chance to get to know some corners and streets of Helsinki! All locations are within few minutes walking distance from one another (in the heart of Helsinki).
